Join us August 12: Ed Kelly on “Empirical Support for Evolutionary Panentheism”

Join us this Wednesday, August 12, for a conversation with Edward F. Kelly, Professor in the Division of Perceptual Studies at the University of Virginia.

Edward F. Kelly is a Professor in the Division of Perceptual Studies, Department of Psychiatry and Neurobehavioral Sciences, at the University of Virginia. He received his PhD in psycholinguistics and cognitive science from Harvard in 1971, then spent more than fifteen years in experimental parapsychology in the Electrical Engineering Department at Duke, followed by a period with a large neuroscience group at UNC-Chapel Hill conducting EEG and fMRI studies of human cortical function. He returned full-time to psychical research in 2002. He is lead author of the trilogy Irreducible Mind (2007), Beyond Physicalism (2015), and Consciousness Unbound (2021), which together map the contours of an expanded, science-based worldview capable of accommodating psychological and spiritual phenomena that lie beyond the reach of contemporary physicalism. In 2020 he received the Society for Psychical Research’s Myers Memorial Medal.

In this talk, Ed Kelly will sketch the genesis of the three books noted in his short bio and explain why he sees that work and Steve’s as mutually supportive efforts to prevent contemporary civilization from sleep-walking into self-annihilation.
