The Institute for Developmental Philosophy nonprofit organization needs and deserves your support. We are working to foster the evolution of consciousness and culture in America by advancing the visibility and influence of developmental philosophy. We began in 2013 by focusing on the cultural dimensions of climate change amelioration. But before long, our focus shifted to the upstream causes of climate change complacency: hyper-partisan political polarization. While ameliorating hyperpolarization continues to be a goal of the Institute, beginning in 2024 our focus shifted to the upstream causes of polarization itself: our society’s lack of a shared higher purpose. Just as resistance to meaningful action on climate change is caused by polarization, polarization is in turn caused by the lack of a collective common cause.
Developmental philosophy can help solve this problem by demonstrating how humanity’s higher purpose is to actively advance the evolution of the noosphere toward greater goodness, truth, and beauty. Renewing our common cause is the subject of Steve McIntosh’s forthcoming book, and the mission of our organization as a whole. We thus invite you to join us in this important work.
