Robert Nicastro on Teilhard and Creative Union

By Rigel Thurston

Dear Friends of Developmental Philosophy,

Join us next Wednesday for a presentation by theologian and Teilhard scholar Robert Nicastro, Executive Director of the Center for Christogenesis. In his talk, To Become More by Becoming One: Hyperphysics, Creative Union, and the Differentiated Self, Robert will explore Pierre Teilhard de Chardin’s concept of hyperphysics—an effort to extend science beyond matter to include consciousness as a fundamental dimension of the cosmos.

Drawing on Teilhard’s principle of creative union, Robert will examine the counterintuitive idea that authentic unity does not dissolve individuality but deepens and intensifies it. In this vision, collective evolution is not a convergence toward uniformity but toward a higher synthesis in which each center becomes more fully itself through deeper relationship with Omega.

Following the presentation, Steve will host a conversation and Q&A with Robert and the group.

Robert Nicastro, Ph.D., is a theologian, teacher, and writer whose work explores the convergence of religion, science, and technology. His research examines how emerging technologies are reshaping human identity, planetary consciousness, and the future of religious thought within an evolutionary and cosmological framework.

He serves as Executive Director of the Center for Christogenesis, where he advances an integrated vision of science and spirituality inspired by Pierre Teilhard de Chardin. His doctoral dissertation developed a constructive theological account of Teilhard’s “hyperphysics,” proposing an evolutionary metaphysics of complexity, consciousness, and divine becoming for theology in the twenty-first century.
